GRAND HOTEL in ART FOR ANIMALS
invited by RADIO CORAX and LUNE LEOTY

15 - 23 October, ZOO HALLE

www.kunstfuertiere.de

The zoo as a public space in which animals of different types can be found is both a place for research and discovery and for entertainment. Many species of the animals have become extremely rare and even threatened by extinction. Just as in a large hotel the zoo staff ensures comfort, lodging, service and meals for the animals. It is the staff's job to widen continually its knowledge of zoology and to give the individual animal the possibility of leading a life which conforms as closely as possible to the life it would lead in its natural surroundings.

The title of the exhibition "Art for Animals" presupposes that the animals have a certain understanding for art although the basic assumption is that art is something entirely human. Who knows? Perhaps the animals do feel addressed by these artistic overtures.

Lune Léoty's project goes so far to suppose that the animals even need art. To grant the animals an opportunity to enjoy art we should therefore offer the greatest degree of comfort: a place where they feel well, let off steam with their friends, have regular meals, and also have the advantage of a friendly and considerate service. In "Grand Hotel", the title of her current work in Halle Zoo, the animal enjoys all the advantages of the hospitality of a good hotel together with a continual modernisation of the premises. The project "Grand Hotel" is an installation in which all details of a hotel for animals have been thought through. In Halle Mountain Zoo the characteristic features of a hotel have been added – starting with the reception and including information and safety signage.

CHAOS CREATES STRUCTURE
KURATIERT von EMILIE MAYER

Lisha, Klaus Mähring, Crapaud Mayer, Michael Schreiber, Valeria Schwarz, Bartholomäus Traubeck

Vernissage: Donnerstag, 15. September 2011, um 19:00 Uhr im kunstraum pro arte!

http://schmiede.ca/news/

Ausstellungsdauer: 16.09. – 08.10.2011

INVESTIR by VALERIA SCHWARZ
WITH THE COLLABORATION OF
BETIANA BELLOFATTO
EVENTOS PARALELOS MANIFESTA 8

We would like to draw your attention to the project Investir, developed by Valeria Schwarz with the collaboration of Betiana Bellofatto in the frame of Eventos Paralelos Manifesta 8. The project will take place between the 7th and the 14th of October 2010 in Murcia, Spain.

We warmly invite you to the official presentation in La Conservera Contemporary Art Center on the 9th of October 2010 at 9 pm.

We are looking forward to seeing you!

Investir means in Spanish to vest:
[…]
8. to clothe; dress; robe.
11. to place or settle (something, esp. property, rights, powers,
etc.) in the possession or control of someone (usually fol. by in ): to vest authority in a new official.
12. to invest or endow (a person, group, committee, etc.) with something, as powers, functions, or rights: to vest the board with power to increase production; to vest an employee with full benefits in the pension plan.
13. to put on vestments.
14. to become vested in a person, as a right.
15. to devolve upon a person as possessor; pass into possession or ownership.

During three months the artists talked to people from North Africa through virtual platforms about identity, their image of Europe, their future perspectives, political situation, among other topics. From these dialogs, the most relevant statements were extracted and printed on T shirts. More than hundred volunteers from Murcia will be wearing these T shirts through the city during the first week of the Biennial. For further information, please check:

WITH/DRAWN

Natalia Blanco is taking part in with/drawn a collective drawing exhibition in Budapest.

The Drawing Room is hosting an international exhibition aiming to investigate the capacity of drawing; from the intimate, intricate mark to the volatile, restless moving image.

The Drawing Room is a non-profit association dedicated to supporting artists and artist initiated projects in downtown Budapest. The DR is a platform for encouraging collaboration and education in the context of contemporary art. We are pleased to partner with the Solymosi Academy for Arts.

As a new initiative their aim is to bring together different artistic disciplines in an environment of cooperation and learning. The DR aims to work collaboratively with Hungarian organizations, individual artists, and the community to create art programming as diverse as it is engaging.

INVESTIR
A PROJECT BY VALERIA SCHWARZ
IN COLLABORATION WITH BETIANA BELLOFATTO

We present Investir, a project specially developed for the Biennial Manifesta 8, taking place this year in Murcia and Cartagena from October 2010 to January 2011.

http://manifesta8.es/manifesta/manifesta8.home

The topic of this edition is the relationship between Europe and North Africa. Our artist collective realized, how little we knew about African´s reality, except from the examples given by the press or ONGs reports. How could we create an artwork without repeating this stereotyped information?

Considering this, we decided to create a platform, a situation within the Biennial, where some other examples regarding the living, working, having fun, dreaming, leaving Africa can be infiltrated in the city of Murcia. We consciously avoid pictures, since they may provoke a momentary emotional sympathy, but they also reaffirm a reality. We believe that the stronger a picture in peoples mind is, the more difficult it is to change it. The intention is not to create ONE picture, but to show the variety, the contradiction, the multiple. Our project has two stages:

1. First of all, we would like to contact the most people from North Africa we can. Thereby a multiplicity of different people: elderly, young, students, immigrants, rich, poor, everyone are very welcome. Our main contact media will be the internet (facebook, forums, sites, etc) but we are glad to meet some people in Berlin also.

2. From our virtual conversations we will take some concepts, sentences, words, which are going to be printed on T-shirts. 99 Murcia inhabitants will wear these T-shirts for at least one week.

STORY BOX
INSTALLATION IN THE PUBLIC SPACE - 48 HOURS NON STOP

A Project by i Collective (Betiana Bellofatto, Natalia Blanco, Jan Fischer, Lune Léoty, Valeria Schwarz)
From 25th - 27th June 2010, 48 hours non stop in the frame of 48 Stunden Neukölln.
Place: in front of Rathaus Neukölln, Karl-Marx-Str. 83, 12043 Berlin

We are proud to present STORY BOX, an installation in the public space which is the last project of i Collective e.V. for 48 Stunden Neukölln. In this occasion, i Collective develops a work in relationship with the principal characteristic of Neukölln: the coexistence of different social and ethnic groups. As an inverted Babel Tower, STORY BOX aims to join instead of disperse. Inside the cabin placed in front of the Rathaus Neukölln and during 48 hours non stop, the viewer will be able to listen to stories of different countries in different languages.

Conceived as a living monument, this project seeks to create a common identity from the difference. Each reader performs his/her own cultural background within Neukölln´s everyday life, activating associations, memories and images in the visitor only through the spoken word. On Sunday 27th between 9 and 12 am i Collective has a special program for children. We will also encourage children to participate by reading themselves stories for the adults. From 25th -27th June 2010, 48 hours non stop in the frame of 48 Stunden Neukölln, in front of the city hall / Rathaus Neukölln.

Supported by French Embassy, Instituto Cervantes, Argentinian Embassy, Kulturnetzwerk e.V.

On the occasion of 48 STUNDEN NEUKÖLLN, i Collective e. V is looking for writers who wish to read out their texts, short stories, poems, etc. The project - an installation placed in front of Rathaus Neukölln – goes from June 25th to 27th 2010. The reading should cover at least 1 hour program. Different languages are wished!
